Perfume Bottles : A Collector's Guide (Miller's Collector's Guides) by Madeleine Marsh

These colorful, compact guides contain a large amount of information for the beginning collector. Each tells where to start and provides brief introductions to various categories of the six types of collectibles. Arranged in chronological order to show major varieties, designers, manufacturers, and makers, each contains 120 to 150 full-color photographs that are necessarily small but are crisp and clear, well organized, and labeled to fit the text. Every page of each book has a boxed "Fact File" offering important additional details in support of the collectibles described. "Where To Buy" sections list major antique associations and dealers in Britain and the United States, and although the collectibles are British or from Europe, prices are given in American dollars. Additional reading appears in the "What To Read" sections. Except for Perfume Bottles and Advertising Tins, all the books have helpful glossaries, and Ceramics and Glass include makers' marks. Authored by either notable collectibles writers who worked with private collectors or by collectors themselves, these little books have a certain brightness and cheer that make them pleasant reading even if one is not a collector. Because the scope is limited to mainly British collectibles, this series is recommended for larger libraries where there is interest.
